How to Add Business Card to Apple Wallet

Published 30 July 2026

Adding your business card to Apple Wallet changes how you share contact information. Instead of fumbling for paper cards or asking someone to download an app, you can share your professional details straight from your iPhone’s lock screen, alongside your boarding passes, loyalty cards and tickets.

What Is a Business Card in Apple Wallet?

A digital business card in Apple Wallet is a stored “pass”: a .pkpass file containing your contact details, company information and professional links. It displays much like a loyalty card or event ticket, usually with a QR code that anyone can scan to save your details to their contacts in a single tap.

Wallet passes work offline, so you can share your information even with a poor signal. And because the pass links back to a live digital profile, recipients always see your current details: no reprinting when your job title or number changes. If you are new to digital cards generally, our guide to what NFC business cards are covers the wider landscape.

What You Need Before You Start

Two things are required:

  1. A digital business card service that supports Apple Wallet. Not every platform offers this. Some claim compatibility but only provide basic link sharing, so check before you sign up.
  2. An iPhone with the Wallet app, which comes pre-installed on every modern iPhone.

Some services include Wallet export on free plans; others treat it as a premium feature. It is worth confirming this alongside customisation options and pricing when you compare providers.

Step-by-Step: Adding Your Card

The exact steps vary slightly by provider, but the process follows the same pattern:

Step 1: Create your digital business card. Sign up with a compatible service and build your profile: name, role, company, links and photo.

Step 2: Find the “Add to Wallet” option. This may be labelled “Add to Wallet”, “Download Pass” or “Export to Apple Wallet”, typically in the sharing or export section of the app or dashboard.

Step 3: Generate the pass. The service creates a .pkpass file containing your details and branding.

Step 4: Add it to your iPhone. If you are on your iPhone, the pass should prompt you to add it to Wallet automatically. Working from a computer? Email the file to yourself and open it on your phone.

Step 5: Customise the appearance. Many platforms let you adjust background colours, logos and which details display prominently, so the pass matches your brand.

Once added, you can bring up your card from the lock screen by double-tapping the side button. No need to unlock your phone or open an app.

Sharing Your Card from Apple Wallet

You have three main options:

  • QR code: the universal method. Open your card in Wallet and let the other person scan the code with their camera. It works on both iPhone and Android, and the code is stored locally, so it works offline too.
  • AirDrop: for iPhone-to-iPhone sharing. Tap the share button on your pass to send your details directly to a nearby Apple device.
  • NFC tap: some providers pair the Wallet pass with a physical NFC card, so you can tap to share as well as scan. If you are unsure whether a contact’s phone supports tapping, see our phone NFC compatibility guide.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

The pass will not load. Files occasionally corrupt during download. Generate a fresh pass from your platform and try again.

Recipients see old details. Update your digital profile first, then generate a new pass so everything syncs.

The card does not appear correctly. Confirm your service genuinely supports Apple Wallet rather than generic link sharing.

NFC sharing fails. Check both devices have NFC enabled and are compatible models.

Making the Most of It

Keep your profile focused: essential contact details and one or two clear calls-to-action beat an exhaustive list of every way to reach you. Review your information whenever your role or details change; updates take seconds and flow through to everyone who holds your pass.

An Apple Wallet business card is a small upgrade with an outsized effect: your details are always with you, always current, and shareable in seconds. Choose a platform with proper Wallet support, set it up once, and you will never be caught without a card again.
